While we were away

Cheri and I visited a nice Japanese Tea Garden in San Mateo Friday. In the evening we picked up  a  friend  of ours from New Hampshire at SF airport and we stayed overnight in San Mateo.
Saturday  morning we all had breakfast with a friend in Redwood City before driving  to Cambria. We stopped at San Antonio de Padua mission and toured Hearst Castle later in the evening.
Sunday we went to Cayucos, Morro Bay then back to Cambria with wine tasting in some of the wineries, watched the elephant seal on the beach near San Simeon and dinner at the Cambria Pine Lodge where we stayed.
Monday we visited the Steinbeck Museum in Salinas which has a very fine exhibit of John Steinbeck’s  works. A short biographical video of  Steinbeck was very informative.
Before we returned  back to Napa we loitered a bit in Union Street, drove down Lombard Street and Chinatown in San Francisco and had dinner at the Thirsty Bears.

A compact 4 days.

About Last Weekend said...

Wow! You did a lot in a weekend. I really must get down to the area properly, we have passed through on the way back from Santa Barbara, but we never do it justice..I really love the photo of those plants at the top and the building, feels like you're in Spain

About last weekend-Cambria is a very small town but has a lot of wineries. And of course there is the Hearst Castle.
