Wednesday walk

It was a cool morning, a thin fog covered the hills. But the colors on the trail were vivid and sharp.

I glimpsed a bird of prey sweeping overhead and then became

two as if balancing the sky on their wings.

A fisherman bundled and seated watched the tide flowed upstream.
Walking I shared the greetings that the morning offered at the Kennedy Park, along the river.

Henry Thoreau once wrote: "We shall see but little way if we require to understand what we see. How few things can a man measure with the tape of his understanding! How many greater things might he be seeing in the meanwhile."

white magnolia

I was walking in the neighborhood and passed by a white magnolia in bloom. When I got home I went out again with my camera.

White magnolia is one of the most magnificent flowers with a memorable fragrance. It is Louisiana's state flower.

Downtowns

Yesterday I went to Calistoga to attend a meeting. On the way back to Napa I stopped by St. Helena. In the early evening I went to the Chef's Market in downtown Napa. There were dancing and singing vegetables (tomato, carrot and lettuce).

It was a beautiful day.
Calistoga on one July Thursday afternoon.
St. Helena downtown.
Napa every Thursday 5-9PM in summer.

Books

I finished A Moveable Feast. Hemingway wrote on how he writes. He is very subtle in his insights about his personal observations of places, people and his feeling.

I just now finished The White Lioness by Henning Mankell. Very good writing. He made the characters alive and real.

Today is a day to reflect about the meaning of freedom. I wish there is peace in the world. I wish all the people enjoy freedom.
