Love letters

I had a classmate once who wrote a few lines about pomegranates which I have to paraphrase-

my hands hold a ripe pomegranate,

luscious and tender in my mouth,

the red sweetness drips

from my lips, colors

my thoughts lost

in the new white dress

I'm wearing.

Do we still write love letters,

pages of longing and affection?

Does a few tweets of luv u's

instead of a full-throated bird song

express an intimate love notes?

I love how brilliantly red those pomegranates are. I bought one the other day for my kids to try and I don't think it was ripe enough. When I stopped to think about it I was surprised to realize that it was only the second time I had ever had pomegranate seeds.

Hi, you dropped by my blog post today about the turtle crossing the road and had a question. I couldn't reply by e mail as your address was a no-reply one. These turtles are actually gopher tortoises and they burrow in the ground. We have several vacant lots around our property and there seems to be a lot of their burrows.
If you're really interested here is a link to find out more.

Love how colorful that photo is. The first and only time that I had pomegranates was in 4th grade when our teacher brought them in to share.

This reminds of me of the verses declaring love in the Song of Solomon. ("Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom--there I will give you my love." Song of Solomon 7:12)

I miss old fashioned love letters, words written in a loved one's hand which no text can come close to replicating.

love the poem and the photo. there is a pomegranate tree down the road in a neighbor's front yard and it is loaded with fruit now - will definitely walk by tomorrow to take a photo.. we loved eating pomegranates growing up in India - this would be eaten as is, served with fruit salads, with yogurt rice(was a wonderful blend of colors!)..

The only pomegranates I've seen were in grocery store displays. Love the brightness of these.

Thank you everyone for visiting and your comments.

The pomegranates are just so red. As red a ripe fig?

Kaye-thank you for the link.

Bellezza...thank you for the Songs of Songs reference."... I have kept in store for you."
