"My life is very monotonous," the fox said. "I hunt chickens; men hunt me. All the chickens are just alike, and all the men are just alike. And, in consequence, I am a little bored. But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow. And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the color of gold. Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat . . ."
Look up at the sky. Ask yourselves: is it yes or no? Has the sheep eaten the flower? And you will see how everything changes...
And no grown-up will ever understand that this is a matter of so much importance!
This is, to me, the loveliest and saddest landscape in the world. It is the same as that on the preceding page, but I have drawn it again to impress it on your memory. It is here that the little prince appeared on Earth, and disappeared.
Look at it carefully so that you will be sure to recognize it in case you travel some day to the African desert. And, if you should come upon this spot, please do not hurry on. Wait for a time, exactly under the star. Then, if a little man appears who laughs, who has golden hair and who refuses to answer questions, you will know who he is. If this should happen, please comfort me. Send me word that he has come back.”

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.
The photo is one of the sculptures, titled The World is Mine, in the downtown of St. George, Utah, part of the Art Walk. I took this photo when Cheri and I visited St. George, October,2010. I have shown this photo in my previous blog.

What a great sculpture.
Interesting sculpture and photos. I loved the passage from 'The Little Prince' you chose to accompany it. Thanks for sharing.
When I saw it I didn't think of the Little Prince, but I can definitely see how that would relate. I was more thinking of how reading makes me feel like I'm on top of the world, or how I can explore the entire world through reading. Very cool statue though, anyway you look at it.
Great photos and excerpt. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
What a lovely way to start my Sunday morning (I'm in Sydney, Aust)...the Little Prince and time to reflect on a lovely piece of sculpture. Thank you.
I loved the excerpt from The Little Prince...it seems to really compliment your photos!
What a great idea for a post!
Isn't that beautiful - and The Little Prince as well. Thank you. I'm just catching up after a week away. My Saturday Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/a62PX
I love Le Petit Prince and your photographs are wonderful! These are great quotes, which refresh my heart.
I once saw a dance version of the Little Prince at Berkeley and it was very beautiful and magical -mystical and not of this world.
