“You will write if you will write without thinking of the result in terms of a result, but think of the writing in terms of discovery, which is to say that creation must take place between the pen and the paper, not before in a thought or afterwards in a recasting. Yes, before in a thought, but not in careful writing. It will come if it is there and if you will let it come, and if you have anything you will get a sudden creative recognition...”
-Gertrude Stein

Thanks for the thoughs on writing. I have a writing teacher trying to convince me that I should write for the sale. I can't see myself doing that. Writing is an expression. The sale is the cherry on top -- if I get it someday.
I like that. I always enjoy it when musicians, artists, actors etc perform in the street. You are much more widely travelled than me - my photos (http://chriscross-thebooktrunk.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/witches-woods-and-saturday-snapshots.html) were taken about three miles from home, in a wood with with a reputation for spookiness.

I'm sure the music was as lovely as the photo you've taken. It captures the moment very well.
Here's my Snapshot.
I like listening to street musicians. They're a joy to come across!
'... it will come if it is there and you will let it come ...' I love that section of your quote. I will keep that in mind when I struggle with the pen, the keyboard, and my inner thoughts that scroll off at the most unlikely moments ... much like the improvisation of a musician or the ramblings of a street poet
It's not often that I've seen street musicians who are flutists. I would never have the guts to do that.
